To the Anaheim Lighthouse,
I can’t begin to express to you my gratitude and appreciation for all you have done for me here.
I bottomed out at the bottom – the river bottom! The lowest of the low and the worst of the worst end up at this bottomless pit where so many never return from.
I showed up with the clothes on my back – broken hearted and hopeless, in just 7 weeks to this day – this is where I stand now:
My probation and parole were changed to Anaheim from Riverside. This rarely happens. A few hours ago I passed a welding test which the Lighthouse took me to waiting patiently for me until I was finished. Upon hiring I received $18.00 an hour, the company is based in Stanton. By the way, I was able to borrow a hood and gloves from Jesse the Handyman – without these 2 items I would not have been able to take the test. Danny my counselor has been instrumental in all my recovery and has arranged a “front” so to speak at sober living in Stanton until I get my first check.
As I was explaining to my sponsor about God working in my life, the sober living, which is in Stanton, the job, which is in Stanton.
I thought all was lost for me – 55 and homeless – hopeless. Can you imagine I was just a shell of a man, devastated and hurt, damaged from the very core of my soul – my spirit terribly wounded.
You filled my spirit with hope from a smile and at a glance lit me back on fire. They say that when your spirit is in turmoil the angels freed our pain and put into words we cannot find to speak to our creator God for us in prayer from the depth of our soul. I am so very grateful that God has put the Lighthouse as a beacon of hope for the lost such as myself and the many before and after me.
By the way, I’ve gained 20 pounds from the excellent food prepared here for me and the other men by the chefs Mona, Sessy and Carla.
I would not change a thing in the structure here not the format of this program. With all my sincere thanks for a life given back to me.
Special Gratitude to:
Docia, Johnny, Danny, Riley, Mona, Sessy, Carla, Jesse, and Jason
